Love thrilling mysteries?? Check out this book!

High on a cliff above the gloomy coastal town of Withering-By-Sea stands the Hotel Majestic. Inside the walls of the damp, dull, rundown hotel, an eleven-year-old orphan girl, Stella Montgomery, lives a miserable life with her three dreadful aunts who despise her. But one night, Stella sees something that she shouldn’t have. Something that will set in motion an adventure more terrifying and more wonderful than she could ever hope for. What are the aunts protecting her from? Why won’t they tell her?

Personally, I believe it is a book worth reading as it is so full of surprises that I was hooked from the very first page. Others who have read the novel have the same opinion because Withering-By-Sea was a shortlisted book in the Children’s Book Of The Year Awards and won a bronze prize in 2017. I give a rating of 4.5/5 for its wildly imaginative and darkly funny plot. It truly is a great book and I highly recommend it for readers in the ages 10-15.

By the end of the book, the puzzle pieces nicely came together and made sense. This book will really turn on your imagination and will get you excited for the sequel, Wormwood Mire but that is for another time.

Love the world of this series - the wonderful atmosphere and details! The author Jude Rossell is Australian too and the third book in the series is called Wakestone Hall!
